Dominica Reflection Lists

Though we are grateful to be back home in the States now and continuing our adventure, we remember Dominica fondly... mostly.

What we LOVED about Dominica:

Andy:
  • The simplicity Sarah and I shared in our daily routine.
  • The vibrancy of colors in the flora and the birds.
  • There was a coral reef in what I consider our backyard.
  • The dilapidated streets and scorching heat reminded me that I was in a sort of battlefield with studies.
  • Fresh fruit and especially mangos that were truly ripe.
Sarah:
  • Swimming and snorkeling almost everyday.
  • So many different colors, textures, and shapes.
  • Hiking.
  • Seeing the Mountains everyday.
  • Seeing the Ocean everyday.
  • All the walking required and available.
  • Explorations with food.
  • Scouting out the island treasures and adventures.

What we MISSED most about home (other than family an friends, obviously!):

Sarah:
  • Spinach (fresh baby spinach!)
  • Affordable Nuts
  • Apples (that don't cost $4 each)
  • Down blankets and fires
  • My mattress
  • Warm showers
  • Tart Frozen Yogurt
  • Drinking water from the faucet
  • Playing in the snow
  • Mushrooms
  • Being dry
Andy:
  • Cheese (affordable cheese)
  • The ease of picking up the phone and talking to friends
  • Decadent foods
  • High gravity beer
  • Taking long hot showers after a stressful day
  • Wearing jeans and a jacket
  • Comfortable bed
  • Driving long distances with some sort of quality listening playing through the car speakers
  • Normal bowel movements and not being terrified of having worms
